San Francisco Department of Public Health
Program on Health Equity and Sustainability Blue Greenway |
|
The San Francisco Health Department is a project partner with the Neighborhood Parks Council to create a “healthy corridor” for activity along the southeast shore of San Francisco. The goal is to create a landscaped “greenway” extending from SBC park to the Southern borders that will connect existing parks and green spaces as well as provide the necessary spark to encourage additional green space in the area. It has been well documented that increased physical activity contributes to better health, but green spaces also contribute to many social and metal health benefits. The San Francisco Health Department recognizes the wide range of benefits from the Blue Greenway and is committed to ensure that health becomes a key consideration in city and community decision making and is dedicated to provide supportive evidence for the beneficial health impacts of this project.
