WHEN TO GET A SYPHILIS TEST

QUESTION
How long after being exposed to syphilis can you be accurately tested? Also, how long after being exposed will symptoms start? What symptoms should I look for?

ANSWER
Like any antibody test, the syphilis test usually turns positive four to six weeks after exposure. Symptoms usually show up anywhere from two to twelve weeks after being exposed. The initial symptoms are a painless sore at the site of infection.

To your health,
Dr. K
